An ideal destination for those who seek for calm vacation and joy in the beautiful nature.
Alonissos belongs to the Sporades complex. It's a great place for relaxation, swimming, hiking, diving, fishing, discovering small picturesque villages and beautiful beaches.
It is worth visiting:
√ Patitiri, the port and capital of the island. It owes its name to the trodding of the wine, as the main activity of the locals is the production of red wine of exquisite quality. In Patetiri, one can find taverns, cafeterias, various apartments, the Folklore Museum presenting the local costumes, different traditional objects, a collection of weapons of the pirates in the Aegean Sea. If you want to swim, just at the end of the port, there is a small beach with transparent waters. The Patetiri festivities take place in the beginning of September, people step on the grapes to produce must and wine. Any visitor can take part.

√ The traditional small village. Once, it used to be the capital of the island. It is a sublime, idyllic and traditional village with stone-paved streets, with shops, stone houses, beautiful yards with lots of flowers, cosy and tasteful hotels, churches, taverns with delicious food and an amazing view to all the points of the compass. The important sight of the village is the Christ’s Church of the 17th century, the Folklore Museum and the medieval castle.
√ Three fishing villages of Votsi, Steni Vala and Roussoum Yalos.
Votsi is a seaside village in a small bay. Here you can find a beach surrounded by pines, rooms to rent and traditional taverns with fresh fish and nice lobster spaghetti.
Roussoum Yalos is a small settlement for the fans of calmness and the nature. It is seen in the neighboring bay of Patetiri. A superb beach with white pebbles and crystal-clear waters shimmering in the pines, small taverns with excellent sea food and small hostels.
Steni Vala, a small village, built on the southeast coast of the island, 12 kms from Patetiri. “Steni Vala” means narrow bay, to which, though, ships can approach.
√ National Sea Park
The nature lovers will be happy to be guided in the National Sea Park, the biggest protected sea land in Europe of a total extent of 2200 km2. In the park there are thousands of plant species rare water-fowls, dolphins, many fish species, the red coral (Coraliu mrubrum), the wild goat of the Yurees (Capra aegagrus), the monuments like shipwrecks and monasteries with a diachronical existence ever since the Neolithic era, the Byzantine era, until the contemporary times. Beaches:
You will certainly fall in love with the charming beaches of the island, organized or not, in very picturesque, small bays with crystal clear waters, enclosed with a pinewood. Organized beaches are Aghios Demetrios, Kokkinokastro (the Red castle), Leftos Yalos, Megalos Mourtias, Milia and Golden Milia, all placed on the Southeast coast. The north western coast is rocky and not easily accessible, to some beaches you can get only by boat.
√ Aghios Demitrios, a different beach with big, white pebbles and crystal emerald waters. It is considered one of the “distant” beaches of the island.
√ Kokkino Kastro – the red beach of the island. A uniquely beautiful beach enclosed with red rocks with an impressing rock on the opposite side. Excavations showed that here existed a Mykenian town.
√ Leftos Yalos, a beach in a wonderful bay with relatively shallow waters. Again the white pebble and the crystal waters discern.
√ Megalos Mourtias, an organized beach with sun beds under the olives. There are also 3 taverns with fantastic food.
√ Golden Milia is one of the most famous beaches on the island with golden sun and emerald waters. A golden choice!
